2012 Steelhead and soon Browns

Well everyone I'm back on line. I Have a lot of things planned including Steelhead tips, river reports, fly tying instruction, and more. It's been a great year with steelhead, along with working for West Branch Resort on the Delaware river and working in Montana for Hatch Finders out of Livingston as well as hosting trips to Chilean Patagonia. I still get excited about fishing and guiding for a living. Someone has to do it I guess.

Steelhead fishing has had its ups and downs this year.  With low water early on to where it was a week and half ago with fresh fish everywhere. We even had an opportunity to swing flies. We've all been challenged, but we go where the fish are and stay after them and with persistence we get them in the net.
A Nice hen caught during difficult low water conditions.

Elk is a little clear right now, but look for cloudy days or start early and leave late. Using egg and nymph patterns you should do well.

If you are comfortable, don't use an indicator and put on long leaders. This will be a little less threatening to the fish.

Keep an eye on the Grand. I will be out swinging flies soon. It is prime right now. In a day or two load up with eggs and nymphs and move around till you find the fish.

Other Ohio tribs are in prime shape. So get out there and get ya some.
Just a gorgeous day and plenty of smile

Over the next week or so I'm going to put some tying tutorials up so stop back often.  We'll tie some of what you see below.

I think we'll start with streamers then move to eggs and nymphs. I havn't decided on video or snap shot tutorials. If you have a preference drop me an email at scott@rsmflyfishing.com

Also, if you have fly that you would like me to tie just send along a message and a picture of the fly and I'll see what I can do.

Well, as always drop me line if you have any questions I'll do my best to get you answers as soon as possible.
Tight lines everyone and get out there fishing and leave some for me.

Scott McClintock.

Oh ya, I almost forgot.  I have a couple of weeks and two slots available for Chile in 2013.  Feb 23rd and March 29th.  Take a look at   Chilean patagonia
